Mid Century Modern Small Bronze Statuette

This somewhat of a mystery. I bought this small bronze statue from my favorite charity thrift store recently for $5. The size is 5 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches tall. It is relatively heavy considering its' small size. I added the velcro-backed pads to prevent it scratching my furniture. You can see a hint of the original golden bronze metal. I don't think the patina was applied based upon the wear patterns.

I am guessing this dates from the 50's. No signature that I can tell. Any guesses on who created this small Mother and Child?
