I found these two beauties yesterday. They are marked Birks (inside a rectangle) and Sterling. The inside is gold-wash and there are some letter engraved. Both are in great condition. They are rather large.

Birks was a high end Canadian jewelry chain. If it is cut glass ( I can't tell from the photos) the glass was most likely cut by one of the great Canadian cut glass companies however, the glass would have come from the U.S. or Europe.
There seems to be a lot of different glass pieces with that starburst design

Aimathena, you are correct. This pattern seems to be very common.
I've seen and actually owned many different glass pieces with the same pattern.
