Here's another find from Salvation Army this morning. A large 9 1/2" blue and white porcelain bowl. I checked on Gotheberg's website and it appears to be from the Arita kiln . They also produced the familiar red and blue Imari which was exported to the west. The mark was listed on their site in a red version. It was translated as "Aoki" a Japanese surname (blue tree or green tree), with an unknown meaning or date. Other info seems to tie to Aoki, Porcelain made in Arita. Full name: Aoki Kyodai-Shokai (Aoki Brothers Company) or Dainippon Hizen Arita Aoki-sei. The Aoki Kyodai-Shokai was founded in the 1890's by Aoki Jinichiro (1863-1955) -Mike-

NOTE : Posted this on the "Asian Art Forums" and received a reply that gave me an approximate time frame for this piece as Taisho period (1912-1926). Still do not know the exact kiln or factory. -Mike-

I love the painting and always loved Japanese and Japanese-inspired ceramics. I also like the shape of such bowls. I will post my old ceramic bowls one day too :)
