Any idea of what this is? I thought it might be a cigarette holder but I can't imagine putting your mouth on the metal. My husband thinks it holds X-Acto blades. It is marked Hong Kong.

Posted two pictures of the metal cap. it unscrews to show a slit. If it does hold pencil lead it would have to be pretty thick.

A novelty mechanical pencil. Extra leads stored in the foot compartment; lead rod screwed into the metal doo-hickey; head protects lead; her ''hair'' clipped the pencil to your pocket.

what is the metal fitting like from the top - can you share a photo? X-acto knives have a twistable metal end with a horizontal slot cut into them...sometime looking like this: http://www.scalemodelguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/XAacto_close_up.jpg

Thank you both, MsDowAntiques and Hunter. It does not have a twistable metal end so it's probably not the X-acto knife. But, I do think it very well could be a mechanical pencil. I never even thought of that! I'm going to do some more research on mechanical pencils. Thanks again!!!!!
