My dad's Navy training course certificate's going from seaman 1st cl to gunner's mate 3rd cl, to gunner's mate 2nd cl and finally to gunner's mate 1st cl and chief. My dad made gunner's mate 1st cl, but made chief mineman when the rate was established in 1943.
