    I have often wondered about this. I have no idea in which era to place this item. There is an art deco style gazelle on the box lid. I bought this at a local shop with the cards already in the container.

      I would say these are what is called a coronation pack in a display case. Rex Pitt I think and date around 1953. The direction she is facing, the margin and the coloring all matter in these cards. I gave up collecting them years ago but they are actually pretty easy to research if you take the time. I think these were produced for a company called Waddington or similar to that. These were not a common pack as I recall.

      I believe you will find that REX was the guy who designed the cards and I think his last name was Pitt or Pitts. I used to collect cards because they were small and easy to store. I only have a dozen or so packs now. You will need to take your time because I believe these cards in the display case are not common. There are card collector sites that would be free and a big help to you.
