This box was at the market of Belgrano street, I posted a link with some photos http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1487836. The hallmarks show that it sure is German, the system use after 1886. The makers mark is not very clear. I think that it was intended to contain carmine for the lips. A curiosity of the Victorian era.

Nice, looks like a Jugend pattern. Is it really German? Should be a half moon and a crown in the hallmark, if so. Maybe it is, hard to see..
