Here's a pair of necklaces I've had for a while. I've been going through my boxes and picking things that I haven't posted yet. I don't think these are real Victorian antiques but they are very nice. The gold one with the tiny amber crystals is very fragile. It was quite bent out of shape when I bought it. A bit of gentle prodding pushed it back into shape. It looks fairly decent now. I think it would be a pain to wear as it would catch on everything and bend if you breathed on it. The turquoise one is really a beautiful blue just a bit washed out in the picture. Not sure what the stones are. You can see yellowed glue on the back of the larger stone so I don't think it's anything special. No marks on either one. I wouldn't be surprised if they were Avon recreations but, you never know. -Mike-
You could be right, many Avon pieces were unsigned. Oh no mike may like them. What a tragedy that would be....LOL!
Yea I know Ken.... I don't wanna get Avon cooties...lol . Seriously I've seen some great things by them. :)
Avon cooties! You two crack me up!
What you didn't know you could get Avon cooties Karen they're related to girl cooties (not all girls are carriers) lol.... I'm not an Avon fan but I'll give them credit when it's due.
I like these, not sure their age exactly but the chain and clasps look older.
I don't like the tailored designs from 80's-90's and beyond: Avon, Trifari, Napier, Sarah Coventry. Just because they are signed they are not special. For the great costume as you know - you have to go earlier.....from the 1970's back.
Don't take offense, my opinion.
None taken Val I pick things up that have eye appeal. If it has a good name attached so much the better. I love occasionally finding Lisner, Weiss, Eisenberg or Miriam Haskell pieces which are a bit out of my league price wise, but it's fun to look. Usually ear rings and brooches are more affordable than the necklaces. Our Volunteer's of America store had an Originals by Robert necklace that had a $250.00 price tag on it ! I wanted that sooo bad. The cashier said a lady picked it up on half price day an was thrilled to death.
