I found this fruit cake tin at an estate sale for under a $1.00. It has the bird of paradise on the top and it appears that the sides are wrapped in silver embossed paper with the same pattern. The container feels a bit heavy not like the dollar store cheap tins.

I bought one similar a week ago at a yard sale for a dollar, but mine is light blue with white over the deigns. And the sides have Greek or Roman designs on it.

I have one with the Bird of paradise on top & Roman or greek designs on it. My grandmother kept old photos in it. I wondered about its value but apparently if people are buying them for a $1.00 at yard sales, the value isn't much. But does anyone know how old it is?

Not sure of the date either, but I just posted the tin with Greek designs here: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/49248-paradise-fruit-cake-tin
