This piece amazes me! it's so beautiful and perfectly made! and the glaze is amazing! it's very thin - almost eggshell, but completely hand-thrown. there is a mark, but i can't make out what it is. does anyone recognize it? or maybe this is just a 'cup', but a very special one.

"As opposed to yunomi, chawan are usually wider than they are tall. According to Japanese Architecture and Art Net Users System, the cups are, on average, 8 cm high and 15 cm in diameter. Interestingly, shorter bowls are used in summer and taller, narrower bowls in winter."

thank you vetraio! it is definitely a yunomi and not a chawan. it is exactly 4 inches high by 3 inches wide. it kind of reminds me of the work of TETSUAKI NAKAO. i don't think that it was made by him, but from someone of similar caliber.
could the mark be an H inside an M?! it kind of looks like it. although, i'd be really happy if it were a Harrison Macintosh, i doubt it. i think that the glazed over bottom, and very neat unglazed, white rim on the bottom is pretty significant.

thank you racer4four! this is a very nice piece. you can really feel it in your hands.
i think that this is my favorite piece of pottery. it feels amazing when i hold it in my hand! not real glossy, more kind of satiny. it feels like even though it's super smooth, i wouldn't drop it - like it kind of grasps my hand as i grasp it. one of these days i'm going to find out who made it.
this reminds me a lot of Natzler pieces, although the clay color is not correct and as far as i know, Natzler pieces were always signed. but the glaze color, wonderful texture and even the rim are very similar to many of their blue glazed pieces.
