      I believe these were industrial safety glasses.

      Not for children-- I know these well.

      They are prescription glasses for wear with a military protective mask. A real pain to wear for any extended time, as they never seemed to sit correctly after a quick mask don.

      I wore the same type in the 1990s-- not sure how long they had been around. Now they are plastic.

      Forgot the exact name in my first post, but they are called "optical inserts".

      I sent the image to my son who is in the army. They should have a nomenclature number on them if they are military. If anyone knows please post it. My son collects older military items and I would like to pass it along. I never saw these except in industrial settings.
