Haines Alaska I've learnt thrives on the tourist industry, and if you visit there, you can really get a feel for what it was like back in the late 1800's - early 1900's. They have lots of Victorian homes and hotels still standing and in use, as well as many great architectural examples and relics of the gold rush days. I've had no luck unfortunately gaining info on the Gateway Hotel. Maybe she burnt to the ground one day long ago?
