Just found this lovely necklace .beautiful moonstone i think.have done magnetic test.not magnetic.drew gold along unglazed white ceramic..gold mark appeared.hallmarks not visible
But marked 'O' inside pendant holder. Beautiful necklace
But cant figure out why the moonstone is not visible when worn ie inverted .

It is a seal shaped watch fob :-)
The moonstone may be an opalescent glass, intended to be engraved with initials, crest or motto.
The dog clip is typical too for watch chains, the necklace was once probably one.

Agree with kyra, your necklace started its life as a watch chain with a decorative seal fob. Take a look at some similar ones: https://www.google.com/search?q=seal+watch+fob&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiQ64KQurrMAhXHWh4KHSVqDAIQ_AUICCgC&biw=1280&bih=651#tbm=isch&q=seal+watch+fob+moonstone
