Asian Figurine Bust

My grandparents had this for at least 50 years or more but I have no other information on it. At first I thought it was made of ivory but if I heat up a needle and place it underneath it appears to melt like plastic. However it is far heavier than plastic weighing 576g, measuring 7 1/2" in height, 3 1/2" length at base, 2 1/2"width at base. Can someone please tell me exactly what this is, where and when it was made, and where I can find similar.
