    Brass novelty tobacco jar, early 20th century, weighs 7 lb and is 6" tall, was lying around in a cupboard for the past 13 years, can't remember where I got it from! Think it was my Uncles.

      Not sure whether the metal is brass or not, initially thought it was brass because of the weight!

      I meant "molded" area. Looks like a raised C with raised lines from the open side that lead to an opening in the side pf the jar.

      I see now. I thought it might have something to do with humidifying.
