Can anyone tell me about this tea set? Seems to be bone china, with only the Japanese character mark on the bottom. I have the pot and creamer and sugar, all the lids, four cups, six saucers, and four plates. Trying to figure out the time period - a friend said occupied Japan but I don't think so. Been in my family at least a couple generations, and my grandparents lived in several different parts of Asia in the 1950s.

I would love to see additional pics. Perhaps you could include the cups and saucers.

Time Traveller - I added a few more photos! The china is see-through; when I hold it up to the light I can see the design painted on the other side pretty clearly. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

I'm thinking that it may be an unmarked "Nippon" tea set. I found a few tea sets online that look similar. I didn't find your exact set, but I did see some that are very similar in style. Do a search for Nippon tea set.

The markings on the bottom - a sort of lower-case "n" and a house image - are the markings for Kutani but I don't know more than that.

Fleafinder - what makes you think that? The markings on the bottom of mine are different. I know nothing about these things - just asking!

      Hi,
I have the exact same tea set. My dad acquired his set in Japan during the Korean War. Did you find anything out about it?

Nurs1mate, I haven't found anything out yet! My grandfather was in Africa in WW2 and in Korea much of the Korean war, but he and my grandmother traveled in Asia a lot in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I will post if I find anything out!
