In the center of the bottom row of the collection picture posted on Sept. 28th is a Wedell & Boers 7 drawer chest. They were the first company to build a portable ‘Mechanics Tool Chest’. (A Chest has a top opening lid with a storage till. A Case has a solid top, no opening lid). They didn’t use Style numbers. It was a 7 drawer manufactured in 1910 and it set the standards for future chest designs. Mine was manufactured in 1915 – 1919. It is leatherette covered with mahogany drawer fronts and is 16 ½” wide.
    Have a good one…..Ted

Looks very similar to the older H. Gerstner chests that were made in Dayton, OH. They are still in business but I don't think that they make the leather covered chests anymore. Look at their web site.

Yes Jonesee, they do look similar, but there are quite a few differences. That's what makes it a challenging hobby.....Ted

I would appreciate any info regarding the Eagle Lock on this chest; name of lock if any, where to buy replica keys...
      Thank You,

My W & B does have an Eagle lock. I call them ‘Rectangular’ for lack of the correct term. Gerstner chests also used the same lock from 1919-1925.
The key number is stamped into the upper flange of the lock portion that attaches to the front panel. You may find an old fashioned locksmith in your area that could reproduce a key. If not, give this company a try - http://islandtrunkshop.com/antique_vintage_flat_keys.html
      Good luck.....Ted
