    I got this at the flea market a while ago. I don't think it is just brass, but maybe mixed with some other metal. It is very light. I think it is for a cigar because of the piece that flips out to rest your cigar on is really big and wide to be for a cigarette. But I really am not sure. I think it is interesting. Cute little slipper with dragons on the side and some other symbol I have no clue what it is. Made in China.

      It's a novelty brass ashtray made for the souvenir/export market. Here's another one decorated with enamel. Go to Google Images and type in "Chinese shoe ashtray" and you will find more of them.
