The design of these knives is traditionally Scandinavian; Finland or Norway. The one on the left is most unusual.
Uncle Ron the one on the left has a compartment in end of handle and inside was that folding fork and a small spool of thread, it says Viking 1916 on it.

There is a type of knife called a Tollekniv, which matches your description. This is a classic Norwegian knife that is still very popular today. Tolle comes from the Old Norse word Tálguknifr, which means to whittle.
