When I bought my Jade ring the stall holder put this on the table, he said I couldn't touch this piece, but if I gave the correct answer it would be a free gift. Not one to throw a challenge up I looked it over, the clue he gave me was you could use it for smoking. I stood and stared for about 10 minutes remember I couldn't touch it so I couldn't see the bottom. My first answer was did it have anything to do with a pipe, nope, he was going to take it away and I said oh come on let me have another guess, well I thought the only thing I could come up with was something to do with cigars, so I mentioned this and he said I was near enough and he gave it to me. When I looked up the name L.C. Hardtmuth who are an Austrian company, and the patient number I found it was a sprung cigar punch. I think it's from the 1900s and is probably made of brass.
Many thanks for looking
