      They tend to just need a decent oiling and the leather cord that functioned as a belt to drive it.

      I'll go circa 1910s from the cabinet design. Rather hard for me to tell if it works.

      If it's a Singer, then you can go to ismacs.net and get a date, model, etc. by using the serial number that should be on the lower right corner of the flat surface - below any badge it may have. I can't tell well enough from the picture though.
