    Hi, I just bought this French marble top commode with inlay at garage sale for only $45. I would love to know more about the beautiful piece like when was it made what kind of wood etc. I think the inside originally had marble or porcelain lined inside the door it is now Missing ? The wood Has the door been painted white thanks

      Let me start by saying you got it for a good price. What you are calling inlay is actually a glued on piece of veneer. That shows in picture #3. It has some obvious mismatches if the pictures are accurate. The veneer on the door compared to the drawer and the knob hardware. As for being lined with marble I seriously doubt it. The door appears to be mounted with soss hinges and a bullet catch. The hinges wouldn't support the weight. Based on the pictures I would venture to say the drawer has been reworked at some point.

      Don't think for a moment I am detracting from the item far from that. You got a good price. I am just pointing out things a buyer may notice if you were to offer it for sale.
