Found this in my deceased father-in-laws items. Would like to know more about its age what war it's from.

Would like to know what the Letter B, the 1 and the 31 represent?

Not sure-- the general appearance is military, but the "B B" would make me think some other type of group.

There was a late 19th century organization called the Boys Brigade-- possibly this was from that group.
