      Looks like 1920s. Should be a two-digit number to the right of ROOT. Usually that's the year.

      it does have 20 next to root.

      Then that is 99% likely the year the mould was made. Moulds didn't last long, so 1920 or 1921 is the date of your bottle.
      I have two identical save for the embossing (different company) from 1921. Root was one of the first glasshouses I learned about. They were well-known for that colour glass in the early 1920s.

      For accuracy, let me correct you: Root made fruit-jars late in the game. Root began in 1901. Fruit-jars go back centuries. The modern fruit-jar came out in the mid-1800s. As such, they didn't by any means make early fruit-jars, but merely put their foot in the market because everyone else was making them.
