    Square cast iron item. It's about 10 inches square, dull, looks like an old trivet but it has a low immovable handle, also metal. It is about 2 inches about the surface and hence could not really be a trivet. So what is it?

      Interesting idea Horseradishman1, but this is a solid plate with a handle. And it is at least 60 years old.
