I found the lovely small paintings (8.5" square, framed) in a thrift store and just loved them. I have been told they are Japanese but I can't read the marks or signatures. I am wondering if I need to have the glass replaced to UV protection glass.

I would replace the glass. They are sooo interesting! I think they are great!

Both are Vietnamese paintings. The subject of the first painting shows the typical Vietnamese conical hats and the baskets they used to carry food to the market.

The name of the artist is M Loc.

The subject of the second painting shows the colors of the lotus flower. The name of the artist is M Dung.

Was going to say Vietnamese, I think Mp.kunst solved the mystery!
Kudos for deciphering the names :-)
