This is a CUTLER MAIL BOX from the Baker Hotel in Dallas TX.
The Baker was demolished in 1978.

The mail box measures 36" tall by 21" wide by 11" deep.
It is made of steel with brass trim, mfg C.1900. The 'letter flap' and the
hinged 'mail box door' are cast iron. There is a brass hook on each side of the bottom just above the trim where the postman would hang his leather bag. It received mail via a chute that went to the top floor.

I restored it to match an exact duplicate hanging on the wall of the Reunion Tower(also in Dallas) on the first floor. That one is still in use

Mine resides on the floor in the foyer of our condo. I have seen similar boxes but none like the two mentioned above. My box gets a lot of attention from visitors and I enjoy telling the tales of my time spent in Texas.
