    This was a curio that was in my Grandfathers barber shop for many years when I was young (early 60’s). He never identified it and now that I’ve had it for a few years I would love to know what it is. Anyone know?

      The upper part of this device appears to be blacksmith made from iron, is that correct? What is the lower part, or shoe made from? What action takes place when you turn the wheel, ie. does it travel up and down, and if so, how far?
