Found this small little gold tone case and I am not sure what it was for. Looks like the maker is "VERNON". Could this be some type of a sewing / needle case? It measures 2.50" wide and about 1 5/8" long. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I did think about a calling card case but it is small, I am not sure if calling cards were that tiny. Thanks for your input Gillian!
