This might be my best find yet. I’m still doing research on Maria Martinez and her work; her very early pieces were not signed because she did not know that her work would be so popular and started signing the bases about 1923. She was born in 1887 and passed away in 1980.

I have an update on this piece; I posted it on another site and was told that this looked more like Santo Domingo pottery than Santa Cara. The search continues....

Could be either, it has elements of work from both tribes. The form is more Santa Clara, the finishing (uneven polishing and streak marks) and design patterns (scalloped lower border and leaf shapes) resemble some Santo Domingo. All I can definitely say is that it wasn't made by Maria Martinez.
