    VFW Slot Machine Tokens
I was sorting through my casino tokens when I rediscovered these VFW tokens. Both are well used. The design indicates that they were made by the Hoffman and Hoffman Company probably in the late 1970’s to the early 1980’s. What is most interesting is that there is no post number or local identification. I know that many VFW posts had/have illegal gaming machines for members only. So these tokens must have been from a Post in a place where such machines were illegal and they didn’t want to advertise the fact too much. Wink-wink!

Nice tokens. They probably still work in many locations.
I hit the jackpot in the 1970s at a relatives wedding. They paid me off even though I was very young. Love it!!

Thanks Clockerman. Yes these tokens often worked in other casinos that used the same metal and size tokens but often there were subtle variations. "Foreign" tokens (those from other casinos) were a big problem to the Nevada casinos out side of Vegas. The large casinos in Vegas just pulled out the tokens from other casinos (in a not very through fashion) and exchanged them quietly but the small casinos in Virginia City, Reno etc. were in terror of the state gaming commission which fined them if they ever found tokens from other casinos being used in their casinos. They carefully culled out the "foreign " tokens and could only exchange them through licensed brokers for a hefty fee! They could not even sell any of those tokens to me as a private collector.
