I found this chair at a thrift store for $20. I was told it was hand carved. The seat material was very old. Does anyone know anything about this design and type of chair?

I'm afraid you don't have much of the original chair left. Someone has covered up the wood with white paint, and the seat is missing. The webbing's in fairly good condition, but I wouldn't sit on it.

I've tried to look at all the "meeting points" of the wood. Some may disagree, but I don't think it has been carved.

Anyway, I'm sure someone with more furniture knowledge than I have will come by soon.

The chair has a nicely and simply carved back, not much of a style since it uses rather simple elements. I do like the chair, minus the paint.
