This "furniture" has been on our porch as long as I have been living here. My husband was raised here, and he was born in 1948. The furniture belonged to his parents. There is a loveseat and two chairs. No one sits on it for obvious reasons. I would love to know its "story" or anything about it. (I have no idea why the last chair photo is sideways. It was not like that when I uploaded!)

looks like some one had some tiome on their hands smiling .. looks home made to me ...
Whether you call it Bent Twig, Gothic, Western, Gypsy, Factory Made or Adirondack rustic furniture is witty, imaginative, chaming and it's seems to always be riding a tital wave of popularity. It is said to be a very romantic style of furniture that reflects people's urge to be in touch with nature.

Romantic and freeform, bent twig is perhaps the most popular rustic style of all. Rustic furniture revels in nature's gifts, some pieces, are made primarily of twigs and slender limbs, and look as delicate as lace. It experienced its hey day between 1880 and 1940 and was made of willow or hichory hardwood in the South and Appalachian Mountains.

Bent Twig rolled arm willow Rockers, a surprisingly recent invention, and one of American origin, the rocker didn't come on the scene until the early 1700s . . . the first piece of furniture to adjust itself to the human body. It was first called a "crooked leg chair". It probably happened spontaneously when a handy colonist realized what's good for the baby (rocking cradles were popular) is good for the rest of us. Add a couple pieces of wood to an ordinary chair and voila! . . . movement, soothing movement.

I myself would replace the broken one and hit it with 10 coats of boiled linseed oil to bring the wood back to life ... smiling ..enjoy the day
