Very heavy but I think it was probably repainted. It is pretty small, 5 x 3 so I also wondered if it might be a bookend .

Cute little rabbit!! I agree with you that it's been repainted. In regards to doorstops, I'm not familiar with the design of this one as a doorstop. But, given it's size, I'd say it could be used for either a doorstop or a bookend. Without any makers marks on it, it's hard to say who made it and what purpose it was originally intended for.
