    I found this cup and saucer the other day, and bought it for the history more than anything else. Edward VIII abdicated before his Coronation, as he wanted to marry Wallis Simpson. Apparently thousands of commemorative items were made for the Coronation that never was! This cup and saucer is by far the simplest design I could find online! What I should be looking for is a George VI Coronation Cup and Saucer, as his Coronation took all the potteries by surprise.

      Marvelous commemorative set, a true piece of history! One must always wonder what would have happened if Edward became king, his brother George was an excellent monarch. Great find
