Hi John -- maybe a 'captain obvious' thought here (sorry if so?) but I think I'd start by trying to find an actual "shoe repair/cobbler shop" nearby you, if such a thing might exist...?
Auto body should be able to steer you in the right direction in your area. They do interior work on cars all the time but send it out to be done. Leather seats, vinyl seats, dash boards etc.
