The top of this small table opens up to reveal this insert. Looks like small pockets to store or display items. Any information regarding function or makers name of this table and possible age would be appreciated

No idea at all what its purpose is but it would be great for displaying marbles....

Also no true idea what its for, but at first glance it strikes me as something that could hold sewing supplies, or maybe to be used in a salon for a hairdresser's bits and bobs...???
