Last week's scout post uniform lacked the patrol patch so I ordered one which did not come in time but it will be patrol patches anyway. Plus I already have the patrol patch I ordered on another uniform anyway. That would be the cobra on photo #2.
Just in case anyone does not know what a patrol patch represents I shall inform you. Boy Scout patrols are the smallest units into which scouts are divided. Scouts are generally organized at the troop level and then divided into patrols. A patrol would generally be boys of the same age at least in the long ago. Now it is pretty much one troop has one patrol.
OK starting off we have the red and black patrol patches that were used until 1972 I believe. Not sure when they started the patrol patch but they were around for decades like this. Don't think the Beaver Patrol is allowed now.
Next is the Cobra and Indian Chief from the 1970s. Note you can get custom patrol patches but all must be approved by BSA.
Photos #3 and 4 are on 1980s uniforms. In 1990 they switched to the blended patches which all had tan backgrounds to match the shirt. Not sure why they did that and they are still going with that. My theory is that patches should stand out (but not day glow pink) as that is why one wears patches.
