I believe that this brooch is a few decades old. I was thinking that it might even go back to the 1940's or so.
The design is very "geometric" and the setting of the stones is unusual, at least compared with my other brooches. The stones are set in a grey metal, possibly some kind of pot metal.
There are no marks on the brooch. I am thinking it is low quality brooch but still with some vintage charm.
Thanks for looking:)
Some “pot metal” pieces are actually quite lovely.. like this one. I wouldn’t deem this piece “low-quality” because of the unusual setting. Looks to be quite large..
I believe it’s a very nice find!
Oh, and (as everyone knows) I consider the “joint & catch” pin mechanism to be of a much higher standard than riveted on pins. So no, no low-quality here :)
Ms.Crystalship, thanks so much for your comment. You are right, some of the pot metal pieces are lovely. I just think that this one is not too creative:)
But don’t you see? It’s the setting that makes it special. In all the jewelry I have seen over the years, this setting is a “new” one. Very “unusual”! The mold must of been something to build.
It’s great to see different pieces on here, and this is definitely one that is!
I think it’s beautiful!
Very beautiful brooch freihet! I would say that it is a rather nice paste brooch of some quality so I agree with Ms.ChrystalShip :)
I can't see the clasp so it is hard to tell the age. Compare it with some of my paste brooches in my collection. The ones I have are marked and made of silver. Are you sure yours is not silver?
And sometimes these were "exact" copies of fine jewelry. :-)
Exactly, Copies then were not what we see today :)
Ms.CrystalShip, this is a very interesting way to look at it. I really appreciate your comment!
