Recent Estate sale pick up in Far South Dallas. Rare Original Framed under glass Official Texas Brags Map of Texas and the Rest of North America Color pictorial / pictographic map Dated 1948. Published by John Randolph and Cartographer was Mark Storm. Whimsical Map of North America, from a Texan's perspective. Places and names throughout the states are often incorrect or fictitious, satirizing a parochial attitude towards other parts of the country. For example, 1" equals six Texas Grapefruit, a drawing of a Ranger on horseback in Canada with the caption saying "probably a Texas Ranger in Dear season", the Northeastern states are humorously shown as "unannexed territory," and the western states as "ceded territory."Decorative details of native flora and fauna, people, sites, etc. are throughout the map and borders. Mark Storm was a painter and sculptor specializing in western genre scenes and began also making Western themed fine art in the 1940s. The print has beautiful detail.
