This is a beautiful and odd lamp. It belonged to my grandmother and my granddaughter is fascinated by it. I have to use a very thin bulb. The interior is pink, so it casts a pink light. Does anyone know anything about these? Thank you!

It is a TV light from the 50's.
In the 1950s, the first decade of mass television adoption, there was a common belief that watching TV in low light could damage one's eyesight. But early televisions, with their dull luminescence, were best viewed in the dark. So the TV lamp was invented to add a little light …

Yours is beautiful! My grandmother had a tv lamp but it was not pretty— something like a crouching tiger with black glaze.
I would love to have one like yours!
