this is a neat box from an estate. I have no idea of what is supposed to fit in it. It must be very thin. I also do not know the origin.

What are the dimensions? Calling card case, cigarette case?

This is fascinating! It is an unfinished box for calling cards made in Guangzhou (Canton) I am guessing anywhere from the 19th to early 20th c.

Here is a comparable example on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chinese-Cantonese-Carved-Wood-Visiting-Card-Case-19th-C-/233572481764
