Can't remember where we got this, but it was probably on a driving trip with the kids in the mid-1990s, when we visited Mt St Helens. I have a vague recollection of a gift shop there, but we may have purchased this at Ruby Montana's Pinto Pony in Seattle. The mountain blew its top 40 years ago today.

Copyright 1980! The maker wasted no time, did they? I lived on First Hill and was driving to work going east on Madison to get on the floating bridge to go to work in Redmond when I watched the ash cloud growing to the south. It was so large that I thought a cloud bank was blocking the view of the ash cloud until I realized that was the ash cloud. The Doppler Effect of the explosion was startling. We were lucky that the wind wasn't blowing our way. We didn't get any ash until it went all the way around the world first.

Hi kwqd. Yes, I lived in Seattle at the same time; saw the same cloud to the south that you did. We knew the owner of the Glass Eye, who drove out to his mother's ranch in eastern Washington and filled the back of his pickup with bags of ash that he used in glass pieces.
