Though I suppose these days it could be worn as such by any gender with either a necktie or a pierced ear (or both, obviously not at once though) as anybody might ever wanna wear it...?? <giggle>

Shown here as it came to me with a (unmarked, unmatching?) silvertone 'tie tack clip' on it, that itself also missing its little 'buttonhole bar' that would normally be at the end of its little chain -- so I'll guess it was actually last worn as a tie tack. It is indeed sharp enough on its pointy end to also suggest it was really intended to easily poke a (gentle) hole in a silk necktie -- earring posts are generally a little more blunt. (trust me, I know... ;-) )

This one hasn't yet visited my jeweler, but I otherwise tend to think it will turn out to be absolutely authentic as the rest. The pearl itself measures about 8mm across, mounted in a 4-pronged gold setting. After close examination with every available magnifier I have handy I *believe* it has some kind of *tiny* marking at one spot on the setting where its post joins to it, but simply cannot yet make it out if so. (or I'm otherwise just imagining it?) It weighs 1.3g by itself (1.3g seems to be the number of the day today?!) and 3g including the back.

On a whim, I just gently rubbed it against my front teeth, and it felt decidedly 'unusual' at least -- isn't that supposed to be another weird characteristic of 'real pearls' that I've most certainly never actually experienced before, so's to really know...???
