Ghurkas are soldiers. This knife is called a kukri. Your karda and chakmak don't appear to be functional which is a good clue that this is not a military kukri. A karda is a small accessory knife, a sharp blade for small tasks. The chakmak should look like the karda but not sharpened and used for sharpening the kukri in the field. Kukris for farm use, etc., usually don't have a karda or chakmak so your knife is probably a reproduction which some folks classify as tourist knives.

Even reproductions, if well made, can be useful tools. I have several very functional reproductions and "tourist" knives like this one that are fully functional tools which I use. They are "real" from that perspective. Kukris are a common tool in some parts of the world and the vast majority were never used by the military or police. As a matter of fact, I mostly use my reproductions, copies of military knives, as my military kukris are collectibles. Most of my reproductions have useless karda and chakmak like this one does, but are " real" As they work just fine as designed. Just because your knife is a reproduction doesn't mean it is not a kukri.
