I think that this might be 'paktong' or Chinese pewter. It kind of feels like lead - very heavy and soft - with brass appliques. Not sure what the symbols are on the cover but i imagine it has to do with marriage. It might not even be a cigarette case as it seems too large. Maybe just a box? Any info appreciated! thank you! It's definitely vintage and not antique.
The Chinese character is "Double Happiness"
of course! i have a large jar w/ the same mark and i had forgotten it.
