I was given these two pictures that were wedding gifts to my great grandparents in 1902. They are signed Chandler. I believe they may be lithographs by William Chandler as they are similar to others I’ve seen online. I have not been able to find these exact paintings online and would love to know more about them. The frames are slightly damaged so I don’t know if they are worth much. I’m wondering the value of the art without the frames.

Welcome to CW. You won't get values on this site, it is just for displaying collections. There is an Appraisal link at the top of the page.

You could also search for "William Henry Chandler" on ebay and look at the completed auctions to see what his work is selling for.

If they are pastels, not lithographs, great care should be taken in handling them out of the frames. Don't hang them in direct sunlight, or bright artificial light if you display them. That will degrade the images, primarily due to fading.

Thank you. I don’t see any signs of pastels on the glass which is why I think they may be lithographs. They are not currently matted. Would it be a good idea to mat them to keep them from touching the glass?
