Carl Zoeller of Brisbane, Sheffield made Knife

A lovely old knife made by Brookbank of Sheffield England for Carl Zoeller of Brisbane Australia. His story is one of success in a new country that turned tragic for him at the onset of the persecution of Germans in WW1. He was a naturalised Australian but when WW1 began he was interned then after the war was deported back to a ravaged Germany. Ending up in South Africa he eventually took his own life.
