    I think that this is a Song Dynasty or before large jar. It's over 7 inches tall and 8 inches wide. I got this and another jar from a friend of mine at the big flea market yesterday.

      thanks Jade and vintagelamp! i just added a photo of the foliate design on the handles. i think that will eventually tell me more about this piece.
