    DURAND SHAPE # 1991.
ART DECO SHAPE WITH APPLIED CONE SHAPED FOOT. WHAT I LIKE ABOUT DURAND IS THE CROSSOVER FROM ART NOUVEAU TO ART DECO. DURAND OFTEN USED A NOUVEAU DECORATION ON A DECO SHAPE.

Great shape! I love Durand also! The colors and iridescence in Durand art glass are sumptuous.

LoetzDance : Thanks for the comment. Actually, when I bought this at auction it was listed as NASH ! I don't know where some of the "better" auction houses get their art glass "specialists".

Sometimes I think incorrect attributions are done on purpose by auctions houses to stir the feeding frenzy! When rare Loetz Phanomens are listed as "contemporary art glass" they end up going for gazillions! :)

I agree LoetzDance-- I think some of it is gamesmanship.

It is similar to a low pre-auction estimate.
